An entire issue of DAEIDA dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first network-telecast documentary about the paranormal in American television history: "The Stately Ghosts of England".  When it premiered in January of 1965 on NBC, this "ghost hunt" across three historical English estates became the prototype for all future paranormal investigations on film to follow. Frank DeFelitta was the producer and director of this program. The future best-selling author of books such as "The Entity" and "Audrey Rose" had not yet directed "The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan" or "Dark Night of the Scarecrow", but his interest in such subjects as reincarnation and poltergeists are evident in this early exploration of a formerly disregarded area of study.  In this in-depth interview, DeFelitta recalls how "The Stately Ghosts of England" came to be and the challenges he encountered during the filming of it including his own brush with the paranormal on the set. Lavishly illustrated with rare images of the haunted estates and behind-the-scenes photos from DeFelitta's personal archive, he engagingly remembers Academy-Award winning actress Margaret Rutherford, and society clairvoyant Tom Corbett, both of whom co-hosted this groundbreaking documentary that put the pursuit of the paranormal dead center in the consciousness of American pop culture forever.
